It’s been about 2 years since we’ve all been in this together.
During recent months, I’ve come to realize that this pandemic/virus is here to stay and will be part of our lives. Over the course of these years and months, many of us have done our part following rules and regulations in helping stop and/or minimize the spread.
While we’re being bombarded with ‘boost up’ campaigns and vaccinations to support the fight against COVID-19, I find that very little (or not loud enough) mentions are being done about keeping our body healthy, protecting our immune system and choosing healthier lifestyle.
Now that we’re in colder months here in Canada, we’re fighting bigger battle including Flu & Cold season, the ongoing variants of the virus, online school, gym closures, cancellations of tournaments and more.
As a sports parent, it’s important to me that my children stay healthy and ready internally, mentally and physically.

This is why I advocate to incorporate healthy lifestyle to help boost our immune system during these cold/flu seasons. Here are some of the things that I’ve been doing to help my boys stay healthy and protected.
Example:
- Fruit smoothies
- Fresh and Steamed veggies
- Lots of water
- Early bed routine
- No screen time 1 hour before bed
- Family walks
- Incorporate ginger, lemon in drinks early in the morning and sometime throughout the day
- Multivitamins
- Lots and lots of water and milk
- Minimize sports drinks and juices

It’s hard to say when we’ll return to “normal” and what that even looks like. I hope that in the midst of all this we are able to not just solely focus on physical training but also nourishing our body as a way to help defend anything that comes.
As always, let’s continue to check in on each other, continue to heal while doing the same for our kids because we are more powerful when we support each other.
